Sound of Silence

a poem carved in slate attached to tree logs in the countryside

Walking the Corbenic Poetry Trail in Perthshire recently, we came across this lovely view across the hills. Underneath the sculpture was the wonderful line.

Time has taught the uses of silence.

There is something magical about silence. It gives us the space and time for everything within us to settle. Notice how many elite sportspeople, in the midst of a noisy arena, allow themselves a moment of stillness before taking that shot.

Many of my best thoughts, ideas and plans come to me as a result of stillness and silence. No matter how busy and fun your day-to-day activities are, take some regular moments to stop, be still and harness your thoughts.
