Changing Gear

One of the memorable aspects of learning to drive is the importance of selecting the right gear.

It is the same with life. Lots of high gear living lately, so it was great to spend a week in Sutherland, where the pace of life drops sharply.

We walked, admired the breath-taking scenery, watched an osprey soaring and some salmon leaping. And we relaxed, living in a lower gear.

It is important to put regular deposits into our energy account. That account pays a good rate of interest and gives us the space to think, reflect and simply be.

It makes the return home and back to work feel even better.
